Your Law Firm is Your Business: Managing Your Solo Law Practice

This article is for informational purposes only. It is not intended to be used in place of professional advice, treatment, or care in any way. Lawyers, law students, judges, and other legal professionals in Massachusetts can find more on scheduling a Free & Confidential appointment with a licensed clinician here.

You went to law school to learn how to practice law and not how to run a business.  But, like many, you may now find yourself running your own practice.  If you strive to sustain your practice, you must learn how to run it efficiently.  If you are not a born entrepreneur, but would like to learn how to run your practice like a business, then you may be interested in the new program presented by Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers (LCL) and its Law Office Management Assistance Program (LOMAP).
“Your Law Firm is Your Business:  Managing Your Solo Law Practice” is a six week series designed for solo and small firm attorneys.  The program will address topics such as:
• Business Goals & Mission
• Creating a Brand and Establishing a Niche
• Marketing – online, in print, in person
• Networking & Mentoring
• Using Technology to Enhance All the Above
In a participatory group setting, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from a LOMAP law practice advisor and other attendees, as well as receive insight and guidance from an LCL staff psychologist.  Meetings will occur every other Friday during lunchtime (12:30 to 2 p.m.) beginning on March 15.  A commitment to all six meetings is requested.
For more information and to sign up, contact either Heidi Alexander, Esq. (heidi@masslomap.org) or Jeff Fortgang, PhD (DrJeff@lclma.org), or call 617-482-9600 to speak to either leader.
