Jared has finally made it to the big leagues being named one of Fastcase 50’s “smartest, most courageous innovators, techies, visionaries, and leaders” in the legal industry. Why? Well, if you know Jared, I’m certain you can answer that question for yourself. But, I’ll boast on his behalf anyhow. Here’s a sampling of his accomplishments via Fastcase 50: “regular contributor to Attorney at Work”, “written the foundational ABA guide Twitter in One Hour for Lawyers”, “co-hosts the Legal Toolkit and Lunch Hour Legal Marketing podcasts on Legal Talk Network”, and of course he “always seems to find humor” in traditionally dry law office management topics. All true! And, of course, there’s more. For those of you who know him, you’ll know he’s always got an answer or an idea for you, he’ll make you laugh (whether in person or on paper), and he’s a marketing phenom (did you know he has over 10,000 followers on Twitter and has Tweeted over 27,000 times?).
Among his Fastcase brethren and sistren are a couple of other law practice advisors, including Laura Calloway, Director of the Practice Management Assistance Program at Alabama State Bar, and Natalie Kelly, Director of the Law Practice Management Program of the State Bar of Georgia; in addition to judges; CEOs; and professors.
If you are not familiar with Fastcase, it is a legal research software company (currently a member benefit of the Social Law Library in Boston). Ed Walters, CEO and co-founder of Fastcase grew the company in a brief period of time to one of the world’s largest legal publishers, now serving over 800,000 subscribers. Walters has an impressive resume himself having begun his legal career as a clerk for a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, then working in the White House in the Office of Media Affairs and in the Office of Presidential Speechwriting, practicing law at Covington and Burling in Washington, D.C., and currently an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown Law teaching the Law of Robots. If you have the opportunity to hear this guy speak, he will not disappoint. We were fortunate to have him speak at our marketing conference this past June and hope he will return to Boston someday for an encore performance.
But, alas, back to Jared, because it’s his special day. Please drop him a congratulatory message on this grand accomplishment (@jaredcorreia or jared@masslomap.org). He deserves it (and don’t worry, I promise not to let his head explode).
