About the Expert

Vedia Jones-Richardson is a partner at Olive and Olive, PA, an intellectual property law firm in Durham, North Carolina and an Adjunct Professor and Supervising Attorney for the North Carolina Central School of Law Trademark Legal Clinic. She received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Illinois and North Carolina and is certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a Trademark Specialist. With a B.F.A in design from Howard University and additional non-legal work experience in television, advertising and corporate communications and software development, she brings a practical business orientation and creative perspective to her law practice, counseling clients in trademark, copyright, licensing, technology, entertainment, arts and promotions law. She has served in various leadership positions in the American Bar Association, where she has chaired the Law Practice Division and YLD Computer Law Committee and served on various commissions focused on technology and client development issues, and in the North Carolina Bar Association, where she has chaired the annual Bar Leadership Institute, and in the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys, where she served has as President of the Durham Chapter. She also is a Fellow in the College of Law Practice Management and a founding board member of InternetBar.org and serves on the boards of the Southern Documentary Fund and Triangle Artworks.
