Learn to Use Google Search Like a Pro … Lawyer! [Webinar]

This article is for informational purposes only. It is not intended to be used in place of professional advice, treatment, or care in any way. Lawyers, law students, judges, and other legal professionals in Massachusetts can find more on scheduling a Free & Confidential appointment with a licensed clinician here.

In this installment of Webinars for Busy Lawyers, Catherine Sanders Reach will share what lawyers need to know to use Google Search as the powerful research tool it can be — in 35 minutes.

You can download presentation slides and bonus white paper here.

Google Search may seem simple on the surface, but underneath that unassuming white screen lives a variety of advanced search tools. The IAALS survey on educating tomorrow’s lawyers reveals that lawyers are expected to know how to effectively research. Adding symbols, combining search terms, omitting certain results and using Google’s built in filters helps get you the results you’re looking for in minutes, not hours.

You can find Google’s quick list to help refine your searches here.

You can expect this webinar to cover:

  • Google search techniques, including Boolean expressions and natural language search
  • The advanced search interface and learn how to construct search with special symbols
  • How to search in specific types of sources, such as government, news, images and video
