2022 IWIL Virtual Conference Is Jan. 19 – 21! Redesigning the Legal Profession for a Better Future

IWIL invites individuals and leaders interested in legal well-being to its first annual conference. The conference will take place online over three days, with four tracks with tailored content and innovative strategies for its various audience members, including Individual Well-Being, Workplace Well-Being, Law School Well-Being, and Leading Law Firm Well-Being. IWIL is a pioneering agency in lawyer well-being, formerly named the National Task Force on Lawyer Well-Being, which authored the groundbreaking 2016 report, The Path to Lawyer Well-Being: Practical Recommendations for Positive Change. OPENING KEYNOTE: Dr. Martin Seligman, FOUNDER OF positive psychology

Dr. Martin Seligman will speak on The Psychology of Agency: Implications for Lawyers. Register for any individual Track or the Full Conference Pass to attend the keynote. Dr. Seligman was recently ranked as the most influential psychologist of the past decade, as the founder of positive psychology and a leading authority in the fields of resilience, as well as learned helplessness, optimism, and pessimism. His best-selling publications include  The Hope CircuitFlourishAuthentic Happiness, and Learned Optimism. His current work exploring agency proposes that individuals and groups as large as whole societies can “become stuck and languish without the confidence, optimism, and imagination (the three elements of “agency”) needed to reimagine a new future and take steps to achieve it.” IWIL Vice President Anne Brafford, a former student of Dr. Seligman, will join his to discuss how agency might apply to the potential to shift lawyers and the legal profession as a whole from languishing to flourishing.
