“The mission of Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers, Inc. (LCL) is to promote well-being and resilience in the legal community, improve lives, nurture competence, and elevate the standing of the legal profession. To fulfill this mission, LCL provides free and confidential mental health resources, addiction recovery support, and practice management services.”

Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers, Inc. (LCL) is a private, non-profit Massachusetts corporation. As the state’s sole lawyer assistance program, LCL assists lawyers, judges, law students and their families, we help you adapt to the many challenges of practicing law.

Our services are designed to help lawyers improve their mental health, addiction recovery, and practice management through support meetings, resources, and presentations to entities of the legal community.

For individual attorneys, LCL services include consultations, assessments, time-limited counseling, referrals, and support groups. We help with anything other than the substantive practice of law. Our clinical team helps lawyers and law students address any challenges to a healthy mindset – stress, depression, distraction, anxiety, burnout.

And our practice management team helps lawyers address the many challenges of practicing law – career development, tech, marketing, and best practices for solo and small firm management.

For the recovering legal community, LCL offers a support network of recovering alcoholic and drug dependent lawyers and judges who wish to carry the message of sobriety to members of the profession. We also offer probation monitoring. However, LCL is not Alcoholics Anonymous. Nor is it an outpatient treatment program, employment agency, or lawyer referral office. Nonetheless, all of these services (and many more!) can be accessed through LCL’s extensive resources.

LCL collaborates with other entities in the community to reach the bar at large through educational programming. We collaborate with, but work independently from the Supreme Judicial Court, the Board of Bar Overseers, state and local bar associations and the bar at large.
