Fighting for Healthcare Equity (Free MBWA & BBA Event)

This event will feature a robust discussion around mental and physical health well-being within the Black community amidst a pandemic (and in the post-pandemic era). We’ll discuss topics such as health disparities within the Black community, including, access to adequate healthcare, lessons learned throughout this pandemic pertaining to Black and brown communities, what structural changes need to occur, and what each of us can do to advocate for Black lives.

The panelists bring various expertise and professions to the discussion:

  • Doctor Vonzella Bryant is the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education in the Department of Emergency Medicine, the Boston Medical Center Assistant Dean of Student Affairs Assistant Professor at Boston University School of Medicine, and the Vice President of Operations, New England Medical Association.
  • Carolyn Reynolds is the Associate Director of Behavior Health Services at Whittier Street Health Center. She has a background in mental health therapy, psychology, and business administration.
  • Marisol Garcia is the Managing Attorney and Director of the Mental Health Advocacy Program for Kids at Health Law Advocates. She has a background in disability law and juvenile justice.
