Housing Segregation: The Continuing Legacy of Redlining and Exclusionary Zoning, and What to Do about It (MBLA & REBA)

More

June 22, 2021 12:00 pm

Hosted by REBA and MBLA

Please join REBA’s Land Use and Zoning Section and co-sponsor, Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association, at 12 noon on Tuesday, June 22nd for a webinar and panel discussion of how housing financing policies, together with exclusionary zoning laws enacted through the localism of home rule authority, have combined to segregate housing and, to effect, preserve and maintain socio-economic and racial inequality; and what we, as land-use practitioners, can do to unwind and remedy these legal and policy dynamics.

Attendees will hear from a panel of speakers representing different perspectives, including Monique Gibbs, a Policy Innovation Associate at MassHousing; Dr. Darrel Ramsey-Musolf, Associate Professor of Regional Planning at UMass Amherst; and Dr. Rolf Joseph Pendall, Professor and Head of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Come prepared for a lively discussion, and with questions for our diverse and knowledgeable panel.

This webcast program is from 12 to 1 pm on Tuesday, June 22, 2021.  There will be no in-person attendance.

To register, email Victoria D’Angelo at dangelo@reba.net.
